Checkout rule not working
If a PayTune rule does not produce the expected result, check its status, settings, and the checkout you are testing.
1. Check that the rule is enabled
- Open PayTune in your Shopify admin.
- Go to Checkout rules > Popular rules.
- Find the rule you want to use.
- Make sure its toggle is turned on.
Rules are turned off by default. Saving changes to a rule does not replace the step of enabling it.
2. Review the rule settings
Open the rule’s settings and review its configuration.
If the rule includes conditions, make sure your test checkout meets them. Save any changes before testing again.
3. Test a checkout where the result is visible
The checkout must contain the options or items needed to show the rule’s effect.
Reorder Shipping Methods by Lowest Price
Test with a shipping address that has at least two available shipping methods with different prices.
Check that the methods appear from the lowest price to the highest price. If only one method is available, there is no order to compare.
Reorder Payment Methods Alphabetically
Test a checkout with multiple available payment methods.
Check their alphabetical order. If only one payment method is available, there is no order to compare.
Fulfillment Location Validation
For Single Location Fulfillment or Bulk Orders Same Location Requirement, review the rule settings and test with a cart that does not meet its fulfillment requirements.
A cart that already meets the requirements may proceed without showing a validation message.
4. Start a fresh checkout
After saving or enabling the rule, return to your storefront and start a fresh checkout.
Repeat the test using the same cart and customer details so you can compare the result.
5. Check other active rules
Review other enabled rules in PayTune and any other apps that customize the same checkout behavior.
If you suspect a conflict, temporarily turn off the overlapping rule and test again. Turn it back on after testing if you still need it.
